Waiting for biopsy results - have I got a recurrence?

hi lulu thanks for that. i havent had a mri or ct scan on breasts. just mammo and us. i have wondered if i should have these as well or one of them. and what about annual checkups i bet they dont do these as standard then do they. in fact my bcn has said mammo every 12 months. i asked about US and she said no. i said what about if something doesn’t show on mammo because of denser breast tissue being younger. she said once i start on tamoxifen this wont be the case as breasts will change. in fact she said ‘your breasts will be like mine then’ - she is in early 50’s. is this true do you know? i am bit concerned and i know i have read some others commenting about not getting a US as well and whether to pay private if they cant get one done.

i havent mentioned again since to BCN.

Ultrasound isn’t very useful for screening it only helps if you have somewhere to look.

A Mammo, MRI or CT takes images at a certain time and shows the whole area examined… With ultrasound it’s hand held and only looks at the bits where the probe is pointed… When something shows up on a Mammo, MRI and CT they can look at the area specifically using ultrasound.

Not sure iv explained that very well but really US is not good for screening but is good for diagnosing or taking a closer look.

You should have an annual checkup with a Mammo for 5 years after diagnosis… MRI isn’t routine screening but this might change in time.
