Waiting for BRCA Results - Finding The Right Life Insurance

Hi everyone, I am very new to the BCC website (still getting used to the lingo!!) I hope i’m posting in the right place!
I am 22 years old, currently waiting on results from my BRCA testing and trying to work my way through the minefield that is life insurance. I was hoping some of you may be able to suggest some insurance companies to look at? I am looking at critical illness cover as well as standard life insurance or (seperately, whatever’s easiest). So far I have managed to find critical illness cover that will ONLY cover DCIS. Ideally, i’m looking for critical illness cover that will ALL kinds of cancer but i’m very new to all the terminology and my brain is beginning to feel fried!!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Amethysh

Welcome to the BCC discussion forums, you’ve come to the right place for information and support from the many informed users of this site.

While you are waiting for replies I have put for you below the link to BCC’s publication regarding breast cancer in families, which I hope you find helpful.  Also if you give our helpline team a ring they will be able to talk to you about insurance.  The helpline opens this morning at 9am through to 5pm (weekdays) and 10-2 Saturdays.

I had the test in November 2012 and it took just over 3 months to get the results. I do not have the faulty gene.
