I had surgery for agressive typre 3 cancer on the 23rd of january. I have now received my appointment for radiotherapy beginning 28th March. Is it normal to wait so long? Most people say about 6 weeks but apparently my local hospital has a backlog. I am really worried the cancer will come back in the meantime.
Hello,
I had mastectomy followed by axillary clearance and have had 5th chemo last week. I will be having radiotherapy 4 weeks after my last chemo so I’ve waited a while.
I suppose they have to wait for you to heal a bit before zapping you. Might be worth checking with your BC nurse?
yes think six weeks is normal for rads gives you time for the healing process from the operation good luck

If you are starting your rads in March …please join us on the Starting Rads in March thread.
I have my planning session tomorrow and expect to start my rads the week after which will be 7 weeks post op…or possibly 8 weeks if they decide to start on a monday.
Dont worry …if your margins were clear and any positive nodes are gone…you can afford to wait one extra week…

Hi Mary
hope to join you on the March thread but looks more like April for me as my wound is still healing in an infuriating slow way.
Hope you are fine and well

hi my name is taz. had a lumpectomy 22nd feb and sentinel biopsy and previously chemo.
was supposed to have my planning for rads this week but it was cancelled as still very bruised and swollen following op and it just not seem to be going down - was just wondering if this is the norm as getting so impatient and frustated and not allowed to even walk my dog at the moment or do anything around the house and only allowed to work for 2 1/2 hrs a day - it is so boring tazx
