Hi Sam, I’ve posted on your other thread but although there are indicators, oncotype can chuck some really curved balls. Grade 3 usually indicates a higher score is likely but not always, I think Kimcoughdrop managed to skip chemo. The size of th IDC to the DCIS is likely to affect the score e.g. If you have 10 mm IDC to 10mm DCIS your score is likely to be lower than if you had 16mm IDC to 4mm DCIS. Honestly though, it’s a bit of a lottery. Some people with small low grade tumours come back with surprisingly high scores and others with larger, higher grade tumours come back with low scores.
so sorry re your diagnosis. I can understand how challenging this is and having to wait for the Onco DX results to see how to move forward must be very difficult.
It is great news that your lymph nodes appear clear. It is not easy to say whether you can expect good results from this test - as many factors are likely to be relevant. With breast cancer a woman with exactly the same diagnosis could have different results to the ones you may have.
I can imagine that the thought of possible chemotherapy is very frightening for you. Should it become the recommended route - it is doable - and there is much help and support on the relevant board and threads.
4 1/2 months have passed since my last chemo treatment and I am recovering well. I even worked through most of it!
But try not to jump ahead - until you have the relevant scores and an informed decision can be made for your treatment plan. It is an anxious time - it will pass - really…
Hi Sam,
I just replied on your other thread, but my dodgy wifi fell over.
So sorry you find yourself here, but there is plenty of support from other going through this at similar stages to you as well as those of us who are further down the line.
The days of diagnosis are tough & its normal to feel the way you do, but it does get better once your treatment plan is on place & you know what you’re dealing with.
BC is very treatable these days & thankfully, it will be dealt with.
There are certainly others in a similar position to you. The oncotype test will give the imformation to get you the best treatment plan, so try to take it a stage at a time. As you are er+, hormone treatment is also likely.
Do come on here & chat whenever you need to & do look at the other threads to join those going through treatment at a similar stage to you.
It will get better.
Take care
