Hi, After turning 50 i was invited to our local mobile Breast Screen Unit. I was shocked when i received a letter asking me to go to our local hospital for more investigations. I have no lumps and no signs that anything was wrong. I had another mammoram and then saw the doctor. She said there was a small area that showed signs for concern. She did an utrasound and said she saw a small area of about 5mm that was showing signs of “pulling”. She did a very uncomfortable biospy and took 3 samples. I was given no more info and have been asked to go back for results on 27/4. Whilst doing the unltrascound she checked my glands under my arm but this was clear. The wait is agony. You cant help but trawl through the internet and fear the worst. My emotions are all over the place. How do people manage to stay poisitive?
Hello WaWa
Welcome to the forums, this must be a very difficult time for you. As well as the support you will receive on the forums we also have a free helpline where you can talk things through with a member of staff who are there to offer emotional support as well as practical information. The free phone number is 0808 800 6000 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9.00 to 5.00 and Saturday 10.00 to 2.00.
Best wishes

Hi Wa Wa, my experience is pretty much the same as yours. An area for concern on ultrasound, which resulted in a biopsy (also very uncomfortable, as the local anaesthetic didn’t work too well!) and no apparent problems with the glands. They just said that there were changes that they could see which needed further investigation. Nothing is palpable. I saw the breast care nurse after the biopsy, which to be honest I found pretty unhelpful. She just took details ie any family history of cancer, did I have any hols booked etc. Said she couldn’t tell me much about treatment because it would depend what it was, but when I go back next week they would have a plan in place - surgeon, surgery date etc. Didn’t really fill me with much hope tbh! I came away thinking that it’s a done deal & that rather than testing for whether it’s cancer, they’re testing to see what type it is. I get my results on 29th & my head is all over the place. The lovely ladies on here are so supportive though & it certainly helps with the waiting. Good luck on Monday x
Hi wawa how did you get on? X
