waiting times for BC Glasgow Royal iIfirmary

Hi Ladies,

I’m 36 and waiting to be referred to the BC at Royal Infirmary Glasgow.
When to GP on Monday after finding the lump at the weekend.
Does anybody know how long I will have to wait ?
I think I will collapse soon with nervous exhaustion.
Trying to remain positive but can only think the worse

Hi Mckenzie

My original bc appointment was at the southern general, had to wait a week to be seen. If your gp has marked it as urgent you should be seen within 2 weeks. I was dx in August last year and i remember how nerve racking the wait is. I phoned the bc nurse at the southern to find out when i would be seen. Might be worth phoning up the royal on Monday and asking to speak to the breast care coordinator, they are usually really helpful.

I had my chemo first at the beatson and have just had a mastectomy and immediate recon at the royal on the 8th of this month. Rads, Zoladex and Tamoxofin next. If i can be of any help ask away. Hopefully this is a club you wont need to join but if you do you will get loads of support from all the ladies on here.

Hi Lesley,

Many thanks for your reply and will phone the Royal on Monday.
Will keep in touch.

Hi lesleyhe,

Now got my appointment in for wed the 23/1.
How are you now feeling ?

Hi

Bit strange just now, left alone for the first time since my op tonight. Hubbie has taken the two girls swimming, eldest is in the Glasgow swim club. Wednesday isn’t long but i do remember how horrible the waiting bit is, my mind went into overdrive and i imagined the worst. I’m a bit older than you early 40’s but i still found it unreal that this was happening to me. Despite everything i have now dealt with the chemo, and the surgery with an immediate recon. My planning session for radiotherapy is on the 30th. Apart from the daily traveling for 5 weeks i’m not to bothered about that.

I have found the ladies on this website such a great source of support at all stages of my journey. I hope Wednesday goes well but please post and let me know however it goes. If you need to chat between now and then post away.

Take care

Lesley

hello, ladies, my wee sis has just had a mastectomy n immediate recon at the royal n she only waited 2 wks, after diagnosis, this is her second time round after 16yrs almost to the day, She says that her care at the Royal was superb. now she awaits chemo, but she is a wee fighter n will win this battle, so girls, keep positive.

sending you 2 positive wishes n vb hugs, cos a hug makes you feel less alone. xxxx

forgot to add, I had a wle in Aug. but my tumour was benign, what a relief but I experienced the terrible fear that having a lump brings. I consider myself to be very fortunate, and am rooting for you all.

Hi Everybody,

Thanks for all your help.
I will never take anything or anybody for granted again, whatever the outcome on Wednesday.
Will keep in touch.
