Waiting to be scheduled for surgical biopsy

I’m losing it. I’m 33 my mom and maternal grandmother passed from breast cancer at 53 and 55. I have a screening mammogram every October and screening MRI every April. This MRI showed abnormal enhancement with something there. I was scheduled for a biopsy and what ever it is is connected to the main blood vessel in my right breast. They cannot safely do the biopsy in the MRI. Next Wednesday I’m scheduled for an MRI with clip placement then the following Tuesday I’m scheduled to see the surgeon to schedule surgery. The area where whatever this is hurts. It’s been hurting. I was sent in Feb for an ultrasound for the pain and was told to buy a better fitting bra there is nothing wrong. Except the pain hasn’t gone away if had it every day since January. It’s not a menstrual pain. I’m terrified as to what is going on and what this is. It’s not a lump I’m so confused. The oncologist said it doesn’t look good. My mom was first diagnosed at 39. I’m just terrified because all of this is taking so long.

Hi @AddyL  - I’m sorry this reply is a while after you posted, but I wanted to check in on you and see how you are doing as I think you will have had your MRI yesterday. The waiting time is just horrible. I’m sure your mind is going into overdrive, especially given your family history.

Obviously I hope they don’t find anything suspicious, but if they do then somehow it’s easier once you find you have a treatment plan in place.

We are here to hold your hand as you wait for tests and results - so feel free to use the forum as much or as little as you need. You can ask questions or just offload, whatever works. There is also a lovely team of nurses on here, the number is at the top of the page, who can help with medical questions or support. You can also message them via the nurses’ board on the forum if you prefer.

Sending you hugs and strength, Evie xx
