Hi This may seem really silly compared to everyone elses concerns but I’ve been waiting over two months for a referral to the breast clinic and now the appointment is a few days away I can’t think of anything else no matter how I try! I haven’t told anyone because I don’t want them to worry. I originally went to the GP with a small lump in my left breast and I wasn’t unduly worried, in the mean time I’ve found a solid lump at the top of right breast. I know I’ll probably be in the 90% of benign lumps but it completly takes over your mind!
Heavens Varmint ,thats a long wait ,no wonder your mind is working overtime! And your concerns are NOT silly!
How on earth did it take that long?
When is your appointment?
The waiting is always the worst.I wish we could tell you it will not be BC but unfortunately we can’t.But what we can tell you is that you are not alone and if you get bad news you will get through it.We are all here to help you.
That said as you say 90% are benign and thats very good odds!
Let us know how you get on,
Hugs,
Dot

Varmint no wonder you are out of your mind,we all know that one of the worst parts of this
disease is the waiting, where do you live, outer mongolia.
I really hope you get some answers soon nobody should have to wait that long,
and as dot says we will all be here for you if your results arn’t what we are all wishing for you xxxx
Thank You for your comments it’s nice to know it’s not just me getting paranoid ! I went to GP beginning of July and my appointment came through a couple of weeks ago to go 11th september. I assume the GP sent me as a non urgent because she thought it was nothing to worry about, unfortunately she hasn’t seen the other lump! It is just good to chat to some one and get it off my chest. I’ll let you know what happens on Thursday, Thank you for your time and good luck to everyone xxx
Good Luck Varmint, let us know how you get on.

Hi to all you lovely ladies
Can I ask if it’s usual for any further tests to be done on first app? As far as I know it’s a scan I’m having done and the stupidest things are going through my mind like should I drive myself or catch the bus!
Yes, on my first appointment I had mammograms, ultrasound, fna, core biopsy. I was there around three hours and came back the following week for the results.
If your question is will you be able to drive home, the answer is yes.
Jules xx
Hi varmint,
On my first apt I had mammogram, ultrasound and fna and went back the following week for results and was told i needed a core biopsy, went back the following week for the core biopsy (which I blush to say I fainted at and puked at - dont know why cos it didn’t hurt) and then went back the week after for the results.
Try to take it one stage at a time. I am learning early that waiting is part of this disease - I was diagnosed 3 weeks ago and am only seeing the consultant re surgery tomorrow and been told it is likely to be 3 to 4 weeks from there - am planning lots of partying and socialising in the interim!!!
Hi
Well I went for my appointment today and guess what - I have to wait for another appointment for the mammo and scan! It took doc 5 seconds to decide she wasn’t concerned but would do tests just to be sure and she’ll send for me by letter. I suppose it’s a good thing that they aren’t concerned but all the waiting fuzzes my brain.

Keeping fingers crossed for your Varmint, seems like they are not too concerned so hoping for a positive outcome for you! Doesn’t help with waiting though!
Hi Everyone
Just a little update - the x ray dept rang today to say they have a cancellation on thursday for a mammo and a scan so after 12 weeks the wait is finally over!!!
I don’t know which is worse, the frightening speed at which some ladies seem to be seen - scary I’m sure because it makes you think the worst regardless or waiting around hoping the doc is right and the lump is nothing serious!
But anyway I’m optimistic that everything will be fine and I’ll post in due course, ( I check in most evenings to see how everyone is doing! )
Thank you for all your kind words it helps just to know there is someone to talk to if you need them.
Hi Varmint,
Gosh, I cant believe how long you’ve waited!! Hope it all goes well for you, make sure you let us know how it goes. XX
Hello Again
Had the mammo ( twice! ) and scan, radiographer was lovely lady who said the doc who did the scan usually put you out of your misery. He ask if I had problems with both breasts has the mammo had showed up something or other so I tried to explain small lump one side, more fixed larger lump the other, He says the scan showed a few small cysts nothing major, now i’m waiting to see if consultant will want to see me when she looks at the report. I got the impression that there is no cause for concern but I still haven’t got a clue what the larger lump might be and if the consultant doesn’t want to see me, as I think will happen, I won’t get to find out, or do they send the information to your GP. Of course I’m happy no one seems to think it’s BC, I’m not complaining and I’m glad the waiting is finally over but it will have been pointless has I still haven’t got a clue!
Enough of my whinging!!!
I hope everyone is doing ok
Waiting Finally Over!!
Good News
I finally went back to see the consultant on Friday and she seems happy with the lumps being cysts and has I apparently have lots (although I only know about two of them!) they are being left alone. Although they feel different from each other and GP said it was a “mouse” I’ve decided I’ll leave things has they are unless there are any changes.
Thank You to all the Ladies on here who at the very least reassure you you aren’t going mad and provide support to us all.
All the very Best Luck to everyone waiting for their results and to those fighting Bc, I will continue to check in and see how everyone is doing xxx
Excellent news Varmint, i am new to this site, only registered tonight and posting all over, but know that it is important to have a reply to your thread so again great news :o) xx
Thats brilliant Varmint!! You must be relieved!!!
Dont meant to be a harbinger of doom and burst your bubble but I felt I had to ask - did they do a FNA to check whats inside these cysts/mice? Obviously I am no doc/radiologist etc and cysts probably look v different from malignancies but are they happy enough from the mammo to be sure? Most clinics now are one stop and do mammo, US and FNA at the appt so that they can be pretty conclusive. I have a friend who has many cysts but still had fluid drained to check when she first found them, every new one she gets checked and has them drained when they become a problem.
I don’t want to pull you down from cloud 9 and if you in your heart are happy with the results then ignore me! Its good that your consultant is happy but the important one is you.

good news Varmint! I am really pleased for you. xxx
HI Ostrich
No I didn’t have any more tests just a mammo and scan a coupIe of weeks ago, I really appreciate your comments, they don’t burst any bubbles for me. I’ve been visiting this site for a while now as you know I’ve had quite a wait to get this far and I fully understand how they get it wrong so I was concerned I would be fobbed off and it did cross my mind to ask for at least the bigger ones to be drained but I bottled out, She did say I could have them done but I do have lots so would be like a pin cushion! I will however be keeping a check and if anything changes in the slightest I will go back. We have a family friend who had “problems” getting seen about changes in her breast because there was no lump at the time but she instinctively knew something was wrong so perservered, it would seem the same for a lot of Ladies on here so I’ll not be complacent I will pester them if they cause me to worry.
Hope you are doing ok and again thanks for your support.
Take Care Kez x
Thanks Poppyjasper hope your news is good too xxx
Love and hugs to you Varmint, xx
