mummytash, it is such a worrying time for you at the moment and many who have been diagnosed with bc will say that the waiting at the start is the hardest element to deal with. But do bear in mind, that most people referred to the breast clinic don’t have breast cancer. You are doing all the right things to get it checked out. You will find plenty of support on his site whilst you are waiting. Sending a virtual ((hug))
Best wishes xxx
Don’t be worried by the urgent referral - that is standard procedure for a breast lump. Nine out of ten lumps are harmless, but all are referred urgently just in case.
Hi Mummytash
Welcome to the forums, I’m sorry to read that you are having a pretty worrying time at the moment.
As well as the support you receive from the other users of this site if you would like to talk to someone please don’t hesitate to give the bcc helpline a call on 0808 800 6000. Here you can share your concerns with a trained memeber of staff who will offer you emotional support as well as practical information. The lines are open Monday to Friday 9.00 to 5.00 and Saturday 9.00 to 2.00.

Hi Mummytash,
Sixteen years ago I had a huge lump appear suddenly in my breast - I saw the look of fear in my GP’s eyes even though he said it was probably a cyst.
One week later the breast clinic drained it - it was a huge cyst and was completely removed by draining. they tested the fluid to be totally sure and everything was clear.
This is probably going to be your experience too. Of course you will worry until it’s all been checked which is why your GP is making sure that you don’t wait for long.
This is a great place to share your worries, so come back when you need to talk to someone.
Wishing you all the best,
Kathleen

I also had a cyst that seemed to appear almost overnight, about 8 or 9 years ago. I was alarmed to say the least, but they drained it, and I left the clinic with my boob back to normal and very relieved. Fingers crossed that’s what you’ll have.
