Hello all - first of all a big thank you for the help you provided me last year when my mother developed jaundice as a result of her extended liver mets and I was literally in pieces. I found a lot of help from your posts and advice. I thought she was going to die, that her moment had come. But she spent 3 months in hospital, at first treated with steroids and then with low weekly doses of chemo and in August she came home. So I hope someone who is now in her situation is reading this and can find some hope! She slowly recovered and up to the end of Feb this year she was able to go out and about feeling quite well given the situation.
Unfortunately a month ago she was rushed into hospital because she was suddenly unable to talk and a few small brain mets were detected with a CT scan. Within 24 hrs the steroids worked and she was back to normal, she was then given 10 sessions of low doses of WBR. She has now (after two weeks from the end of WBR) started chemo again (Taxotere/Docetaxel) not for the brain mets but to control the liver (liver counts/cancer markers have started to go up again, but nothing like before when she had jaundice).
She is so, so, so tired and not very hungry at all. Plus the skin where she had the radio is sore and red. I can only imagine what the effects of WBR AND chemo one after the other can be, and I am sure it is normal for her to feel as she does, but I was wondering if any of you has been through this and can give me/her some advice and reassurance and once again, some hope that she has some chances to get through this. She cannot win the war against this cancer but I hope there are still a few battles she can win.
with love
Eva
