Hi Penny
glad its going well for you. I had my scan and about 10% shrinkage. I am just having avastin every 3 weeks and I am getting my energy back I wasnt sure if tax or avastin was making me so tired looks like it was the tax brilliant stuff certainly helped with shrinkage now I hope avastin will keep me stable.
Good Luck.

dear jaane
I had 3-weekly taxol in my primary treatment, and found it much better than the FEC, as absolutely no nausea at all (a big big plus as far as I was concerned). I would imagine that would be the same with weekly. The only real problem was low white blood cell count, but Neupogen (?) injections dealt with that.

Had my 5th Taxol/3rd Avastin this morning.
Then went home and zonked out for a 6hour sleep! That was because of the Benadryl that they give me.
I am feeling pretty good at the moment, although my Dad just called to tell me that a close family friend passed away( due to cancer ). At least he was 84, and had a great life. But nevertheless it is still sad.
I know that the day after tomorrow I will start to feel crappy for a couple of days, but once they are over then I will feel good again. At least know I can see more of a pattern.
Had a chat with the hospital dietician, as I am finding it difficult to eat and do not want to lose more weight. Have never before been in this situation in my life! It is very strange. Have always struggled to lose weight, and prefer to eat low carb, as then I don’t feel the need to inhale all the food that is around me!
She basically said that I should eat whatever I want, which is not what I really wanted her to say. Anyway I cannot eat anything with sugar, as with the taste changes in my mouth, it tastes revolting, so I guess she felt sure that I wasn’t going to be eating junk.
I have also been seeing a medical doctor who is a naturopath and specialises in balancing hormones naturally. He is an advocate of the no-meat,dairy,wheat or sugar way. Eat organic, take supplements etc.
All very confusing.
Plus I read on the internet that if on Taxol, you should not be having grapefruit or it’s juice. Of course, all I want is red grapefruit juice. But when I asked my onc. and the dietician, they felt that there was not enough evidence, and that if I want it then I can have it!

Hi ladies
I started my 1st weekly Taxol last week…Originally,I was given Epi-CMf in 2006 so this time, when they gave me Taxotere first time round in May08, i had reacted badly from it that they changed it to weekly Taxol, after having no chemo for 1extra week…
So far,my first session with Taxol(Paclitaxel) was ok.They gave me antihistamine Iv,antisickness and steroids 1hr before my Taxol IV.Took home Had antisickness for 5 days anf for that week I only had numbness on both arms for the 1st day, no sickness for the rest of the week but feel a bit tired…A lot better than my extreme experience with 1st dose of Taxotere…They had to breakdown the dose in 3weeks intead of 1 bulk once every 3 weeks.I am triple negative,so I was told that I will not respond nor het much benefit to be given additional meds.
Well, so far,I only had my 2nd session delayed only because I had an infection in my hickman line that i had to have 7days antibiotics…Hope it gets sorted as I look forward to progressing with my chemo on Tue,all things being well.
I hope it helps for insight…
