What about a Metastatic Breast Cancer Conference BCC?

Some of my friends in the US went to the Metastatic Breast Cancer Network conference in Houston, Texas a couple of weekends ago.  It was held near, and had speakers from MD Anderson Cancer Centre.

If BCC really wants to do something for MBC and to help raise awareness how about having a conference over the weekend of 4 - 6 April 2014?  Something that will make us feel included and give us real information.  MBC is glazed over most of the time as though we go from diagnosis to end of life  in a short period of time; well I am living proof that this is not the case.

I don’t see why a conference has to be prohibitively expensive if it is done with the target audience in mind and they don’t want to use expensive accommodation for the conference to take place.  Of course it would cost a bomb if you wanted to use Claridges, but Travelodge have conference facilities at some of their hotels.  I know the one at Tewkesbury has such facilities, and I presume they would do a deal for anyone staying.  Tewkesbury is off the M5 and fairly central to Bristol, Birmingham etc.  I use Travelodge a lot because I don’t mind basic accommodation and I don’t eat the usual type of breakfasts.  I could try making enquiries if anyone would be interested?

For the first conference maybe we could focus on what we would really want from a MBC group and maybe do some meditation and relaxation techniques … what do people think?

For that matter we could find a village hall somewhere!
