what are symptoms for spread to the brain

hi all
i havent posted on here for a while but im just a bit worried. over the past two weeks i have had on and off headaches nothing that a pain killer doesnt get rid off, but over the past few days i have been feeling a bit nausious and sick with it, especially just after i have eaten. its as if my head is heavy but from the neck. in general its just quite fuzzy and i’m getting a bit worried.

can anyone help with symptons for spead to the brain?
thanks

Hi. I hope you don’t mind me replying as I don’t have cancer myself but I have just nursed my Mum through it and witnessed what happened to her. She had BC which invaded her lymph nodes and caused secondaries on her spine and in her brain.

Please be aware she was in palliative care when this happened.

She began mumbling sentences and tailing off mid conversation, only to continue where she’d left off a few minutes later - kind of like she’d drifted off to sleep for a moment. She also got her words mixed up and would put random words in the middle of sentences which was hilarious and helped eased the tension. After a period of about 6 weeks nothing made much sense and we had fun with that too - anything to make her laugh.

She never complained of headaches/dizziness/nausea.

I understand that it affects people differently but I hope my experience goes a little way to make you feel less worried.

Sam.

Hi sukes,
Sorry you are feeling rough and a bit vulnerable at the moment. Afraid I don’t have an answer for you but I would think if painkillers do the job it’s probably not brain mets, however, I think for your own peace of mind you need to see your GP or speak to your onc team.
Hope someone with better knowledge than me comes along soon and can put your mind at rest.

Hi there. My mother in law started with hangover symptoms then she was slurring and her writing became scrawl and she srruggled to put one foot infront of the other. Hi All,

Thanks for your comments.

I did go to the docs today and i had good grilling. She advised me not to google symptoms on the net …which i did…

Anyhow i also told her i keep on burping and she thinks its problems with the gullet causing the reflux hence making me feel nausious and occassional headaches. Also did a preggy test to confirm no babies on the cards…

I have felt really low today asking why me why cancer at the age of 34 and 3 young kids? I hate the way i live in fear and the thought of cancer coming back is so frightening an upsetting.

Thank u
sukes

Dear Sukes,

Stay strong. I’m sending you positive vibes! Would give you a hug if I could. Glad to hear you went to the docs - best to be certain.

Take care,

Sam.

I had daily headaches with peripheral vision on right side non existant lasted about 1/2 to 1 hour. Asked oncologist he said probably migraine (never had migraines before). He said if headaches intermittant not to worry, but if all the time come and see him.
Mind you I think I would still check on any new symptoms or I would fret that it was something progressing and wouldn’t sleep! It’s ok for the onc to say don’t worry but I’ll bet he hasn’t got breast cancer and had 3 lots surgery and grading staging and spread to lymph nodes, had chemo and rads and hormone therapy for next 7 years so I will keep bothering him if necessary!
Best wishes Bev x
