I don’t think anyone has a problem with positive psychosomatic effects. If it works on any level then it is probably worth doing… But don’t make it out to be anything more than it is. My guess is that with a lot ‘mysterious’ practices it is the power of suggestion, no more, no less.
I belong to a US chat forum similar to this one and we are always being asked to pray. I don’t see the point, personally, as a lot of them pray and go to church but they still got breast cancer. But it makes them feel better and I am all for anything that makes one feel better.
Just one question, though - is a reiki practitioner born or made? If you do the training does the blue light come on once you get your certificate? Sorry, but that’s the kind of thing that makes me come over all cynical.
I’m not scientifically minded but, like Jane, I would like to see some evidence that is more than anectdotal.
