Talk to her consultant Hi there
I just had a look at your profile and see that your mum had a regional recurrence…she might find it helpful to post on the recurrence section of this forum.
I’d suggest you talk to her oncologist about the likelihood of recurrence…it could be that she has a further long period without any…cancer is very unprecicatble, and a regional recurrence is not like a secondary recurrence which is inevitably terminal (though soem people go into remission for months, even years.)
Your mum was on tamoixfen so she may now be prescribed a differnet hormonal tretament…ask about this too.
In general terms you can’t have the same chemotherapy more than once, but there are several different kinds of chemo so in future she could have a different type.
So…I think the important thing is for your mum to talk to her doctors.
Finally…I have a friend who had a regional recurrence in her neck about 12 years after her primary cancer. That was in 2001 and she is still well.
Best wishes and good luck
Jane

Question for Jane Hi,
I have a quick question for your friend. I too have a regional recurrance in my neck after just only 15mths. This is being very stubborn to remove and giving me a lof of nerve pain and odema in my arm. How did your friend get on ? Glad to hear she is well, it gives the rest of us hope
