What were your thoughts?

I was so glad to be going to the theatre at last. I had got to the hospital at 8am and I went down at 4pm.

As they were preparing me for the anaesthetic they asked me what job I did (to distract me I suppose). I said I was my mum’s carer and then told them about her falling and breaking her hip on Christmas morning. I said it was a bit drastic for her to do that to avoid my cooking. We got talking about Christmas dinner and I told them about the Christmas we all went out for dinner, they asked was it expensive and I said it was but it was better if you saved up all year putting a bit of money away each month. Then I fell asleep!

In for my mastectomy (12 years ago) I asked for a pre-med as I didn’t want to lose my cool in public, so they gave me some valium and listened to ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ until they wheeled me off.
This time when I was in for WLE it was as a ‘day case’ and was just pleased not to be losing my beloved TRAM flap reconstruction.
