Hi i finished chemo in may 08 and rads in sept 08, i now have some hair although still very short, very draughty around the back of my head!
I used to have hi lights just wondering if this is still possible with short hair. It is probably just over an inch but quite dark with some grey. I am 42 now.
Hello Sarah
I finished chemo in May 07 and like you still had very short hair in September. My hairdresser said there wasn’t enough to do highlights with the foil method which I wanted although they might have been able to do one colour with the cap.
I used an all over watercolour myself to cover the grey bits. It was a Daniel Field water dye - very gentle and safe. I got it from Sainsbury’s.
I eventually had foil highlights done last January when there was enough length for them to work with to do the 3 colours I wanted. (I spent a lot on that first hairdo and it was a very special day)!
Good luck

Hi Sarah
My chemo / rads dates same as yours. My hairdresser said highlights not an option as too short, but that she could do an all over colour. Unfortunately I reacted to skin test so now trying to get a hair dye that doesn’t irritate my skin! I’m 38 and have a fair bit of grey too, but getting slowly used to it!
All the best,
Ax
Hi there, I’ve just bought some Naturetint from H and B as recommended by ladies on here, intend to try it today! No ammonia. I’m 5 months on from chemo and completely grey at 41. Watch this space!
My hair came back almost completely grey, it may have been like this for some years but have dyed it for about 10 yrs constantly. I had no desire to walk around with my grey head at aged 39, So I wore a scarf or wig until it was long enough to dye it.
My Chemo Nurse said that you can use a semi permanent colour 3 months after last chemo and a permanent after 6 months.
I opted for a permanent vegetable dye 4 months after chemo. Its called naturtint and contains no chemicals, you can get it from most health shops. I only used half of it as my hair was only about an inch long. It was good but did fade quite quick. So I,m back to using Nice and easy and have also used Aldi,s own which is good too.
I always had nice hair but now its really thick and bouncy. The chemo curl has almost gone but its still a bit wavy.
Last Chemo Jan 08
Lots of love
Andrea xx
