Good morning ladies, another sleepless night here… although this time I think the Chinese dinner last night has something to do with it too.
Anyway, my question is how long do I need to wait after the op (lumpectomy + full nodes removal) to have a shower as the bad BO is really getting to me?
Had my op now 8 days ago but not seeing consultant for post-op check up until Tuesday and not sure I can take the BO another 3 days. Wet wipes help but I really crave for a proper shower and wash :smileyfrustrated: x
Hi here xxx I showered after my mx on day four when I got home - my bCN just said to wrap cling film around me which I did and it worked a treat - I avoided underarms I. Shower though and used a gentle flannel on these after I had dried everywhere - but I Am bilateral mx so not sure if different for lumpectomy x. Hope u have a restful day - Chinese sounds nice! Sarah
I showered the next day after lumpectomy. I presume the dressings are waterproof. Just don’t use soap or shower gel over affected area and have that area under shower only very briefly. Another tip is to dry the affected area quickly using a hair dryer!
Just a warning, I was told by staff nurse in hospital to use cold setting only on hairdryer as area can be numb and could easily burn skin. X also re stinky, a few of us had that awful BO smell even after a shower after lymph node surgery. IMHO I think the sweat glands may get disturbed. The good news is it does go away after a few weeks. X
