hello to all on this really helpful site.
I am going for a triple assessment on Friday and wondered about results. Do you get told there and then or do you get called back?? Does it all depend on the hospital?? I’ve been reading some of the other posts and some get told and some don’t.
My husband wants to come with me but I would rather go alone, but know he would really like to be there if I could find out there and then.
Also–does/did anyone else have trouble sleeping in the wait?? I’m starting to look like a zombie and am VERY short tempered which certainly isn’t helping. Also the greasy hair/puffy eyed look is deeply not attractive.
many thanks
lynda
Hi Lynda,
Sorry that you are having to start off the new year this way. Glad though that you have found this site as you will get a lot of help from all the lovely people here.
I can understand you wanting to go to the assessment alone; I felt that way too.
I had to wait around after the assessment to see a consultant. Seemed like they did the assessments in the morning and then had a meeting with you after lunch. It was then that I wished I had brought someone with me. I didn’t get the results that day, but I had a pretty good idea the news would not be good.
I then had a week to wait for my results. Difficult, but not uncommon.
I used that time to do research, and it was time well spent. Although I was in shock at my diagnosis, I was more prepared, and was able to make some crucial choices about my treatment. So although the wait was hard, I am now rather grateful for it. You could always try phoning ahead to ask about how they do things…. It might help you sleep a bit more easy, but there’s no magic solution to that one!
I really hope that things go your way on Friday; please let us know how you get on. Just to let you know I have just about finished my treatment and right now I feel that I am moving forward to getting my life back.
Also, if there is anything you want to know about the actual procedures, just ask. Happy to help!

hi lynn if you get fna you should get results same day if however they do a core biopsy results take anything from 5 days to weeks to come through mine only took 5 days but some ladies on this site had to wait weeks for results. I am one of the lucky ones i wish more of us would visit once in a while as most of the ladies here are here because they have bc and it is scary when all the posts you get are from women who have bc .I just want to reassure you that there is more good news than bad at the clinic and if you do have bc then there are loads of lovely ladies on this sight that will support you when you need it and give you loads of invaluable advice good luck for friday bablicious
Hello Lynda,
I had core biopsy and had to wait a week for the result. However, they were fairly sure from the mammogram and ultrasound that it was bc and they told me that at the time (saying that they could be wrong but made it clear that they would be surprised if the pathology came back negative). They were happy to discuss with me what would be likely if the pathology did confirm it and personally I was grateful for this. Getting the result was less good, because at that clinic they phone you with the result and the bcn who phoned me wasn’t the one I had spoken to the week before, was a bit abrupt and wasn’t all that helpful. But she was the only person at the clinic who was anything other than extremely helpful and supportive.
Like Lomalinda, I used the week to gather information and that helped me to feel more in control. It helped a bit with the shock. It also meant that although the bcn who phoned wasn’t terribly helpful I felt confident enough to push her a bit.
Fortunately I didn’t have long to wait for the appointment because when I phoned up I was offered an immediate late cancellation and was able to take it because I work round the corner from the clinic! I went alone more from practical reasons than actual choice, but that worked well for me.
Good luck with you appointment,
Eliza xx
evening to you all
thanks for taking the time to reply. I just want to get started on it all, but being able to read about other peoples experience is a real help. I’m having a bad start to the year–my husband found out that he no longer has a job when he went back into work this morning, and at 54 its not easy to find another one.
I’m really glad that you had good news bablicious, and thanks to eliza and lomalind for the information. I’m pleased that they are up-front about what they think from the first appointment, can’t imagine anything worse than the staff being aware of my dx and me not.
I will post here again, and thanks for making me welcome

hi
just wanted to say that I had the triple assessment this am, and it went well. The consultant thinks that I have cysts following a car crash I had a couple of yrs ago. Had 1 cyst drained and its been sent to hystology, but he said that he’s 100% sure that its b9.
many thanks to all on here, this site is a life saver
good luck to all
