When is the best time to take Arimidex

I picked up my first prescription of Arimidex today. Has anyone any views whether it is best to take it in the morning or evening

Thanks in anticipation of your advice

I take it in the evening, but I don’t know whether any particular time is better than another. The leaflet just says to take it at about the same time each day I think.

Hi Sharon I started Arimadex in July I take mine at night I leave them on the bedside cabinet and as soon as I get into bed I pop a pill. I did have quite a few stiff joints to begin with in arms and legs. A lady on here suggested cod liver oil capsules which I got from the health shop she did say they take 2 months before you will feel any effect from them. I have been on them 3 months now and do feel great. I am also back at work full time. I only have one or two hot sweats a day thats why I take mine at night in case the hot sweats were bad but I have been very lucky not to have had many. Another reason is if you forget to take one pill then if you waken during the night then you can take it as it does tell you if you miss one then not to take 2 together to just miss one out I still feel at the moment I would be quite scared to miss one as I have a lot of faith in these pills as my onc says they are marvellous. Anyway I hope you get on well with the Arimadex and dont suffer to many side effects. You Take Care Love Linda xxx

Take it when you are most likely to remember - I find last thing at night the best for these sort of long term pills.

I started Arimadex yesterday after finishing rads and decided to start taking them in the morning after breakfast. For me it means I can see what symptoms I am getting from it. I shall continue for a couple of weeks and then if nessesary switch to the evening.
Let me know what you decide and how you get on.

I have been taking Arimidex since Feb 2004. I take it (along with other pills for Crohn’s and arthritis) first thing in the morning when I have a cup of tea. Doesn’t seem to bring on any nausea, even without food.

I have been on Arimidex since May and take it at night - keep them by my toothbrush. Have kept an Arimidex diary since I started and it is interesting to see how the flushes vary. Every time I think they are getting less they seem to go up but generally are bearable and so much better than Tamoxifen. I do notice that alcohol and a day of “pigging out” aggravates the flushes but being on holiday they virtually disappear - maybe less stress. Would be interested to her how others get on and if there is any trend in the ups and downs.

I’ve been on Arimidex for over a year. I take other medications (heart meds) and I just take the Arimidex in the morning with breakfast along with all my other pills. Main thing is to take it when you remember to take it. I’ve not noticed any side effects from it either. (I took Tamoxofen for about 2 yrs before being switched over to Arimidex).

I changed to Arimedex 2 weeks ago and like Tamoxifen [since aug 05] ~ take it in the evening. Rosemary
