When should my mastectomy dressing come off?

Had mastectomy 27th,went well and sent home next day with no drain in. But im not due to see Dr untill 12th feb and surely i just dont keep my dressings on till then!!!

I did…saw my surgeon 2 weeks after discharge and he removed them. However after a few days they seemed tight and uncomfortable so i rang the ward and they asked me to call in and a nurse changed them. I didn’t look but she said that everything was looking good.
I showered during the time but leant forward so they didn’t get too wet…they were water resistant…not waterproof so they told me not to soak them…i must say it was a relief to get them off!!

The longer they are on, the less risk you are of infection, however, 12th is a long time to wait. Phone the ward, they may removed them completely… And the first shower is totally amazing. They may also give you some gauze and tape for yourself to apply is at all concerned

Thanks for reply’s…i rang up today and they said just pull it off myself but leave white stitch strips on !!! I was given no dressings etc to take home. She said just re cover if i get a leak or something !!!
