Hi was taken off taxol chemo due to side effects 3 weeks ago when can I expect my hair to start regrowing? xx
hi what were your side effects and how many taxol did you have ?I had 1 docetaxel but was changed to weekly taxol due to being hospitalised for ten days .
Hi Geordiex
I had taxol June last year, 8 weekly treatments, should have been 12 but had to stop for an op, finishing end of August. I stopped wearing my wig beginning of February. Twelve months on my hair is good now.
Hope this helps
Take care

This seems to vary. I had 8 cycle of FEC-T between October 2011 and March 2012. Hair started appearing again around the end of 2011 like baby fuzz. It kept falling out again too until I finished chemo, but then started to get good growth and stopped covering head in June 2012. Think people were assuming I was a lesbian rather than a chemo victim by then. It’s worth getting regular haircuts once you get to that stage. I know it’s hard to have any of it cut at first but it does help it grow into a good style.
I had last (out of 18 weekly taxol) on 11th April this year. My hair is showing now but is so fine but I am baring my all and going bare- headed. I still wear my wig when I want to blend in with the crowd. It has grown a bit more in the last 2 weeks but it IS a slow process. Years ago (24 years ago!) when I had my first chemo and hairloss, I finished my chemo in June and was able to return to work in October that year with enough hair that looked like a very chort haircut. Hope this helps.
Hi… mine took 10 weeks before any sign of life appeared, by which time i was thinking I’d be bald forever! It’s OK now, (2 years later) though still not the texture it was, and a little thin on top.
Hope yours comes back OK. Mine was tight tight curls when it first came back… Easy to maintain! It’s still got a bit more of a kink than it ever had before… but it’s hair! So glad to have hair!

My hair started to re-grow whilst still on tax back in 2011 have been on Herceptin continuously and will be forever and Tamoxifen since Sept 2011, hair growth is very very slow especially on top! I’m desperate for my hair to grow back (I had waist length brunette hair prior) at the moment its the length of my neck but still very curly and wirey so I pin it back and put false hair peice on most days. I’m not sure whether its the Herceptin thats making my hair growth very slow, also my eyebrows have never grown back and I have to draw them on daily although I’m looking into getting them semi-permanent tatoo as they can look very natural done this way. This comment made me laugh another bc patient said “god must be a man” when asked why she exclaimed " my pubic hair has grown back only on my bikini line" this made me laugh and is so true unfortuantely!!!
Love to all
