Hi I have a recall appointment tomorrow but have been reading that if it goes as far as a biopsy it can take some time to get the results. I am worried about not knowing over Xmas and the effect it will have on the family etc. Do they give you a fair idea on the day so it is just waiting for the results to confirm. Also I’m not sure what questions I will have so any ideas I would be grateful. Sorry but feeling a bit nervous and cant seem to focus! X thank you x
Hi Jo , I have my appointment on Thursday , good luck with yours tomorrow. Do you know for definite you will have a biopsy ?I am not sure if i will have to yet but I am hoping they are able to give a date for the results. Did you get a letter telling you the result of your mammogram and a "grading " like i did i got M3 x
Hi Melissa. I just got a letter about a recall but reading on here looks like there will be several tests. Don’t know yet what the mammogram showed but sure I will find out tomorrow. Good luck with yours on thursday. Let me know. X
Hi jo,
_If _you do have a biopsy, the wait for the results can vary slightly, but should be about 2 weeks. In my case, I was given an appointment for the following week.
Hopefully, you won’t need a biopsy & may get an answer tomorrow. Even if you do have a biopsy it does not necessarily mean it’s cancer, it just means that they have to get to the bottom of what it is, in which case they will not be able to definitely confirm what it is on the day.
If you do need a follow-up appointment, then do come back here about any questions if you would find it helpful. Going through this is always a highly anxious time & best to take it a stage at a time rather than worry about what maybe - although it’s easier said than done. We’ve all been there!!!
Also please remember that if on the off chance it is more serious, then bc is very treatable these days as those of us who’ve been through this now realise.
Let us know how you get on.

A bit confused though. … may they know for sure after the mammogram or the ultrasound? Might there be an answer before the biopsy? And is it true that even after the biopsy it still might be nothing? Surely they will be able to give some sort of answer tomorrow? Thank you x
yes jo,
they might know what it is following the repeat mammography &/or ultrasound, then you will have an answer. The biopsy will only be done if its not clear what it is. If you do need a biopsy to get to the bottom of it, it is not necessarily bc.

just to add, Jo, if a biopsy is needed it has to go to the lab to be analysed, the results take another week or 2 to come back. You will then be given a follow-up appointment.
All the very best for tomorrow, it doesn’t feel like it now, but the mammo has done its job in picking up something that needs to be looked at.

Thanks ann. Your comments have really helped during a really difficult time. And thanks for your good wishes xx will let you know xx
Hi. When I went for my recall last year there was about 8 ladies there and only 2 of us had biopsies. The rest were sent home after the magnified mammogram (and some didn’t need an ultrasound) - no further action was required as whatever had been seen on the screening mammogram didn’t amount to anything at all. They just were told to attend their next screening appointment as normal.
Best wishes, I know it’s horrible waiting and facing the unknown. Xx
Thanks poppyfieldsyou have been a real help this week. I will let you know xx
You’re welcome! I really hope all is OK.
Best wishes.
Xx

Lovely to hear that, Jo!
Hi. That’s great!!! I’m happy for you. You can relax now and enjoy your Xmas!
I had my pre op with the anaesthetist yesterday and all was OK so now just waiting for the surgery date. Probably early Jan.
Merry Xmas everyone.
Xx
Glad you got through your pre op ok poppyfields. Try to enjoy Christmas as much as you can. You were right with all your advice and I thank you so much for that. Good luck in the new year and sending you lots of good wishes xx
Hi. Thanks. I read alot on forums and booklets on this site and macmillan after my initial recall last year and realised that most recalls turn out to be nothing and also alot of people don’t report back “good news” onto forums. But the other side is that going for regular screenings at least means that alot of the time if something is found it’s caught early and very treatable.
I’ve been inspired by the ladies on this forum and am in a positive frame of mind (at the moment!!) whatever my biopsy results this time round.
Have a fab Xmas.
Xx
Hi PF
Glad your pre op went well and all is being arranged. Hope things are in place for you for the new year.
