Recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer, but as its in several places need mastectomy. Keep being told its grade 1 so low level and not an emergency. Feels it to me. Found this site and think its great. I am in the process of deciding on the type of reconstruction I should go for. The one involving f at from my flabby stomach does feel like there is a little bonus in all this, but I guess it is a longer operation and recovery time??? Really can’t decide. Still don’t know if I will have chemo yet as said they won’t know till they have operated…I have to say the thought of loosing my hair feels me with dread.
If any one has any thoughts re the pros and cons of the 2 types of surgery would welcome it.

Welcome to the site - it is great for advice and support, as I’m sure you will discover. I had a mastectomy on 13th November and opted for no reconstruction, so I can’t really give you any advice as far as that is concerned. I am sure someone will be along soon who can share their experience with you.
Please keep us posted as to how you get on. I am about to have my second lot of chemo - and while it wouldn’t be my first choice of something to do on a wednesday afternoon - it is do-able as they say ! Here’s hoping you won’t need to do it!
