RACHEL HARRIS found she had breast cancer last autumn; several months later most of one breast was removed. Shortly afterwards, her consultant radiotherapist at a hospital in Hull recommended a three-week course of radiotherapy. Ms Harris, aged 45, was puzzled because a friend had just been given six weeks of radiotherapy following a similar operation. Even her consultant told her that most hospitals in Britain and Europe, and all those in the United States, recommended treatment over five to six weeks.

Hmmm, to be honest I don’t think I’d set a lot of store by any articles in the Daily Mail, they have a dreadful track record of all sorts of silly or scaremongering articles on cancer.
Having said that I know there are trials going on where they place a radioactive source in the tumour site to do the treatment. Don’t know any more than that.
Hi Ragamuffin - as I said, I didn’t find out until half way through that I was getting IMRT. The machines are the same, but used in a different way. I had a CT scan for the planning session, but I think everyone has that? Your best bet is just ask!
