Just read a post which was being spoke about “drink driving” … Ok it was moved to chit chat and fun … then a message from the service manager … This is not relevant to breast cancer and will confuse new users…
Please we all suffer fro this horrible disease but we are all human and have thoughts, we hopefully have made friends on this site, friends we like to share our thoughts with
Why does it have to be breast cancer related???
that’s all i wanted to say sorry!!!
How strange - there are lots of topics on here with nothing to do with breast cancer. I wonder why that one was singled out, perhaps there is more to it than the service manager is letting on.
Probably because it was a personal dig at someone else, and wasn’t actually as innocent as it seemed and the moderators maybe knew that.
Also when there was a general long running chat thread on here some time ago, certain people kept coming in and telling them that it was a breast cancer site and should stay as such and there shouldn’t be any general chit chat, and said people disappeared. It can’t be both ways, chit chat for the favoured few, but not for others, it can’t change just as certain people see fit, no offence.
I am at a loss to know how it could be seen as a personal dig at anyone.
Chit chat and fun is for “chit chat and fun”, whilst the sections relating to breast cancer are for people to talk about breast cancer. It’s annoying to click on a “serious” discussion and see that a few people have chosen to take it off topic and used it to hurl abuse at other members.
It was a personal dig, believe me, from one member of BCC to a former member of BCC. Maybe you’re at a loss to understand it because you do not know what it is all about.
I couldn’t agree more, but I don’t think any abuse has been hurled as yet, but I think the moderators closed it because it would have gone that way. Some people on this site can’t let a sleeping dog lie unfortunately.
Just wanted to say that I replied to the ‘‘mentioned’’ post…as far as I was aware it was an innocent topic that was started…if I had thought for one minute it wasn’t I certainly wouldn’t of posted my views on the subject.
Perhaps one of the service managers could advice us as to wether or not we are allowed to discuss or have debates about things other than breast cancer…that way no further upset should be caused.
I have no idea at who would stoop so low to take a swipe at someone via a BCC forum concerning an issue that isnt related to BC, but if this is the case, I am glad the moderators are switched on enough to recognise a potential problem.
Julie, as far as I am concerned from reading that post, someone was merely expressing their views on drink driving. I saw no mention of a name in the post, and can’t help feeling someone is being a little over sensitive about this.
Hopefully a member of the bcc moderation team will be along shortly to clarify what is an acceptable topic in chit chat and fun
No, of course a name wasn’t mentioned. They are hardly likely to do that now are they? No one is being over sensitive. A certain person goes on Facebook, finds out information, then repeats it on here. Sorry, but there is no mistake.
Aren’t you the same RMW26 that was not a short time ago telling people not to post non breast cancer subjects. It’s amazing how opinions change!!!
I think this has been taken out of proportion! … the reason i picked up on that particular topic was because it was said " it has nothing to do with breast cancer" and as RMW26 said what is chit chat and fun…
Surely we can chat about anything we like in this section… as long as it stays here it should be ok…
We all have our own personal reason to be on here, as sufferers and family and friends of ppl with BC, at the end of the day ladies we all need a change of topic sometime…
If this has given ppl some cause to argue… this was not my intention!! …
No one is arguing, just putting our opinions across. As far as I am concerned, I’ve said what I wanted to and made my point, end of subject as far as I am concerned.
hi, i replied to the original post because my partner did die in an RTA and i did question the relavance to this site but i didn’t report it to the moderator, saying it was unsuitable. if someone said on that thread that someone they cared about had died in an RTA during their treatment then that would have been relevant.
BCC sets out what is considers approp in behaviour etc. i was unaware of any thing personal going on in relation to the drink driving thread.
i chat with friends on chit chat and fun - some of it is just fun but people also are talking about BC as it affects them too - so we do talk about eating and drinking whatever we want and tasting those things - because of treatment some people can only dream…we talk about hair growth… the impact of cancer on our lives, how we hate treatment… how we want to move on. in between - it’s my washing machine has broken - that is another frustration to cope with…
In my view, the thread in question had nothing to do with breast cancer. There are many alternatives for that - facebook/msn/yahoo/icq.
We are going to close this thread as the topic seems to have run its course. To explain a bit more – we are a charity which is funded to help people affected by breast cancer. Sometimes people will post here on topics which seem a distance from their or their loved one’s diagnosis of bc. Usually, however these issues have arisen or are affected by the poster’s experience of breast cancer. In the instance of the thread being discussed this did not seem to be the case and these forums do not exist for general discussion.
