So two weeks ago I noticed a lump on my left breast. I had this investigated further on Thursday and two my horror have been told I have a 2.8cm lump with an 8cm area around it with tissue change. My lymp nodes had also swollen. They have taken a biopsy to confirm 100% but have told me they it is likely to be cancer. I have just finished breastfeeding 3 months ago. I have a one year old and five year old. I feel scared stiff that I haven’t noticed in time. So Thursday I find out for definite and discuss treatment. Will the pregnancy have fed the cancer??? I can face losing the breast if I need to but worried about the chemo. It seems a large lump to me!!
Hi Lisajane, sorry to hear about your diagnosis but you couldn’t be in better “club” (for a better word) as the ladies here are amazing.
I noticed a huge sore lump very close to my skin beginning of January (totally out of the blue) which turned out to be 3cm grade 3 tumour and since it had spread to my lymph nodes (8 out of 17) I was diagnosed as stage 2.
At the time I had a 14 month old and just turned 4 yr old so pretty similar to yours. Waiting for the results and treatment plan is the worst period as once you have know what’s going on it’s a bit easier to deal with.
I had lumpectomy to remove the tumour (I was more than willing for them to take the whole breast but apparently there was no need to), 4 x three weekly cycles of EC and 11 weekly cycles of Taxol chemos and I had my first radiotherapy today.
It’s been a long slog but I want to do anything to get rid of it and reduce any chance of it coming back.
Feel free to PM me if you want to talk more.
Hang in there x
Thanks for the response Herewego. It feels good to speak to people in the same boat. I go tomorrow now instead of Thursday. The cancer nurse has agreed to see me to discuss biopsy results. I’m like you I will do whatever it takes to get rid of this. Although do feel a bit worried about the effects of the chemo. If I have it. That worries me the most xxx
I certainly will do xxx
Hi again Herewego. So I got my results back today and i have invasive ductal cancer!! Think that’s it’s name!! Anyway the common one they tell me. They are planning a mastectomy and lymph removal as biopsy of those had cancer cells. They are also planning chemo and radio after surgery. Feel slightly relieved knowing what’s what. Although they are planning a bone scan and full body scan which scares the hell out of me!! X
