Hello
I have been on Tamoxifen for about 3 and a half years. In the beginning I tried a few different brands but found Wockhardt suits me best. Recently the pharmacies in Edinburgh have been struggling to order it for me. Do you know if there is a manufacturing difficulty with that particular brand? I have tried 5 or 6
different chemists and none can get it. And if it is going out of manufacture, can you recommend a similar brand for me to try?

It sounds as though you’ve had a real struggle to get hold of your preferred brand of tamoxifen.
There are reports of medicine shortages globally which may be affecting manufacturers. Medicine shortages may occur for a variety of reasons including difficulties sourcing raw materials. It may be worth asking your pharmacy to contact Wockhardt directly and you can find the details by following the link. You may also wish to ask your treatment team or GP if they would recommend an alternative brand for you to try. Everyone reacts differently to drugs and some women say they notice a change in the side effects they experience if they take tamoxifen made by a different manufacturer. This suggests that some people find tamoxifen produced by one manufacturer seems to suit them better than another and this varies from person to person.
