I have been back at work 10 month now, after being of 9 month with mastectomy, chemo and radio.
I work in an office and do home visits relateing to clients and offer support to their needs.
I had an update meeting today with my line manager today, I went in full of joy thinking i was doing well with my caseload, my line manager thinks i am still not up to speed with my job, admits that I have improved but not to full speed yet.
Must admit she has been very supportive, and is there for me when i get bad days with the blues.
As well as haveing got over breast cancer i am visually impaired and hearing imaired.
I work full time , i am married with two teenagers, should i be back to normal, should i give myselft a kick up the backside.
I’m still going through treatment but I have been told by several people to expect to need a year to get back to full health after treatment. It’s a lot to go through.
I agree with vertangie. I have a friend who had BC in 2000 - she said it took up to two years to feel really well again. But then she said she felt better than before.
It’s good hear these comments. I am 13 months after op. finished chemo in December and radiotherapy in February. Started Herceptin in March and still feel very tired.
I am due back to work on 1st August. This should have been 1st July but didn’t feel I was ready. I am really worried how I am going to cope and whether my brain will function !
