Hi I’ve just had ultrasound were they flound something and did a biopsy. They did say prob benign but got to wait over a week for results. So worried can’t cope can anyone help or been through similar thing?? Please.
Hi Flagstar
Honey, practically everyone has been there, some of us twice. The waiting for results is probably a better thread to post this question in, but I will tell you that the waiting is definitely the worst part of this. Do you have someone to talk things through with? If not, there is a free helpline
0808 800 6000
Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
Saturday, 10am-2pm
Calls are answered by nurses and trained staff with experience of breast cancer. Whatever your concern, you can be confident they’ll understand the issues you might be facing, and that the information you’ll receive is clear and up to date.
Meanwhile, I’m sending BIG HUGS and best wishes.

Hi Flagstar
I know what you are going through. I have been recalled for mammograms, ultrasound and MRI scan. First biopsy is only tomorrow (MRI guided so fairly specialist and in London). Tomorrow will be exactly a month since the first recall. A lot of waiting! I already braced myself once for a diagnosis, only to find that information is incomplete and dx won’t happen yet. All in all I have been seen at superfast speed and ‘my team’ has been brilliant. But the waiting has been agony at the start. Take heart… it does get better. Also, I found that I am in a much better state of mind now than in the beginning. Time is indeed a healer.
You are not alone!

Hi Flagstar , some really good advice on here. Where you are now is the hardest place. Even for most of us who have a dx of breast cancer. Firstly and importantly, most lumps are benign . 20 years ago and 12 years ago I had lumps checked out and they were benign . One found 12 years ago was a fatty lump iit is still there and benign. I’m 58 now, found another lump in the other breast early May and have dx of breast cancer . I was devastated to begin with and waiting for results had me climbing the walls. However, in the past 20 years, breast cancer treatments have moved on, and they are treatable with good outcomes. That’s me , lets talk about you. The consultant / BCN thinks your’s is benign, they have the scans and the mammograms. They are the experts, they have the facts, but they can’t give you the all clear until they have done ever test known to man . So take heart, pamper yourself in the run up to the test results. I know it’s not easy, but what will you achieve beating yourself up ? Sending you a huge cyber hug and all the best for your results. Let me know how you get on Love Kathy x
