This is the first time I have posted on this site but have visited it many times over the past 4 years Diagnosed in 2007 with Grade 3 invasive carcinoma…no lymph node involvement. Wide Local inscision followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy Due yearly check up/mammogram in September. The last fortnight I have experienced a burning/sore feeling inside my affected breast. Worried sick. There is nothing to see on the outside Scar looks fine Do you think I should contact the hospital or leave it a little longer to see if it goes away…the only time I had a similar feeling was in the early days after treatment Symptom free since then. Has anyone experienced this? Thanking you in anticipation Kate
Hi Kate,
I have no experience of this, but if you are worried about something I think it is always best to get it checked out. It will always be on your mind until you do. Hopefully it will be nothing and you can stop worrying.
Best wishes. Stella xx
Hello Stella
Thank you very much for your response. That is exactly what I would say to anyone else. My reluctance is that I know from past experience that you can never get hold of a Breast Care Nurse at the hospital and they always used to say that they would phone you back At this stage I dont want my husband to start worrying and plunge us into that nightmare of worrying again. I know that sounds pathetic and lame I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this ‘pain’ 4 years after diagnosis Kate
hi stella, i had a similar experience about 2 years after surgery, and occasionally i get discomfort now, i find it is if i have done anything too strenuous, its more like a dull tender, burning but you should still get it checked definately, my consultant gave me painkillers after having mine checked out,
if in doubt, check it out.
hope this helps love liz x
hi i have been experiencing pains too (DX 07) and last week at hospital. told this can carry on for years and that its down to the radiotherapy, but you should always get things checked out.

I was diagnosed in Oct 2006 and still get jumpy rib pain from time to time. The same rib also sometimes feels like it is itchy and my breast aches where I have the scar tissue. However, I’d get it checked if it’s worrying you, especially if it keeps you awake.
Thank you all who have answered me. I have moved house recently and done a lot of lifting and part of me wonders if that is what is causing discomfort. I am going to wait until Monday and then ring the breast care nurse at hospital …I will let you know what happens Yes it is stopping me sleeping …the worry… not necessarily the ‘pain’…the wee small hours are awful…takes me back Not a good place
Thank you again - Kate
