Hi all …not even sure if I’m on the right forum but here goes. Have had a wide local excision and sentinel node biopsy. The results were good with clear margins and no radiotherapy needed but am on tamoxifen. I should be elated but I am still worried…after reading some posts on this site I should be jumping for joy and yet I still feel uncertain. I think that without radiotherapy there may still be a few bits lingering, if you see what I mean . My type of cancer was an encysted papillary carcinoma and wad found during a routine mammogram.
Vee, I suggest you give the helpline a ring, open till 5 this evening and 9 - 2 tomorrow (Saturday). Your type of cancer is not the common one that many of us have, so it may generally receive a different treatment regime.
Thankyou for your reply Chocciemuffin…I should be getting a call from the breast nurse this coming week and I may mention it to her but I don’t want to seem ungrateful or even (God forbid) like a hypochondriac because at my age (62) I have had a few operations and a couple of illnesses in my lifetime and have just got on with it, but this is different. I’m worried and with no reason to be! Take care.
I had the results from my first Mammogram after MX, Chemo and Radiotherapy. I had Invasive Ductal Carsinoma and was diagnosed 18 months ago. The letter said that “They were pleased to inform me that the results were satisfactory”. I can’t say I feel too confident and wonder what anyone else thought if it were “satisfactory”. I would have preferred “Normal”, “Fine” or “Good”. I know they don’t tell you that you are “clear” but I wasn’t too happy about it.I’d be interested to know if it’s just me being over sensitive?
