Had aroutine mammogram in spain last dec received letter found disturbing changes and need to have follow up in 6 months
Went for follow up 3 weeks ago and told the secretary about changes in my breast, she told me she would put info on computor and it would go to a doctor still waiting for results/appointment
the changes i have are right breast seems to be lower than other with nipple being a lot lower pointing down and the whole nipple are has gone towards the side of breast, also in the last couple of months the veins on that breast has become accentuated a criss cross of veins to the side of breast
am so scared wondering wether to go to a private clinic fot ultrsound or just wait
i dont know what the waiting time in spain is
Sorry you’re soo worried and it IS difficult being in a foreign country as well.
I’m afraid I don’t know the spanish system but there is a lady called lizzyspain who posts who is obviously having treatment in spain and she may be able to help. Send her a private message and I’m sure she’d respond…
I do know the private clinics in Spain are good, but it may be that the public system is just as efficient.
I hope you get some help and can have your worries alleviated.

I live in Spain, Torrevieja area,before we moved here had BC diagnosis Nov 08,mastectomy,
chemo, rads, now 8yrs Tamoxifen, I fly home every 3 months to see the surgeon & oncologist alternately. A few months ago I thought I felt a lump in my other breast plus a tenderness in the armpit so I went to our health centre here. The doc I saw said my European health card didnt cover cancer so I could apply for a permanent health card from UK or go to the private hospital for an ultra-sound. We went straight to the private hospital, 10mins later I was having the ultra-sound, results 5mins later plus he gave me a print-off, thank God nothing sinister showed up. I also had Tumour marker blood tests, they took 4 phials to test for breast, ovarian, gastro-intestinal and one more which I forget, all of which had very low results when I went back in the afternoon, grand total for all this, 200euros, peace of mind, priceless, why couldnt my British meds do these tests? Hi I also live in Spain, been here 5 years now, I live in Alcaucin, south of Malaga.
The treatment I have received is been fantastic although one little hiccup when they cancelled my treatment earlier on this year said hey would no longer pay for it, all sorted now though but took a bit of a battle.
Money doesn’t seem to be a problem here on treatment they offer you the very best treatment or I felt this was the case.
My veins broke through the chemo and they fitted the latest portacath in my chest without e flinch, this is an expensive process. I was also given all the medication I needed to get me through my chemo, rads, and still receiving treatment.
I think my ultrasound test taken approx 10 days to come! I too went private for my first mammogram but that came back clear! luckily my Doctor disagreed with this and sent me for a ultrasound.
