Worried Male

Hi first of all i appreciate all the ladies, given me some advice and helping! i was told this is the place i should be to feel more at home, as a male concerned about breast cancer hopefully alot of my questions will be answered here, sorry if i moan abit! i get really worried so i will let it all out, i hope you don’t mind! thanks for helping Lance and sharing your story, i just wanted to know if you don’t mind how old you where when you was diagnosed? with me i have had this redish/pinkish bump on my chest the skin looks raised, i have been to my GP he says its folliculitis, and someone else said a skin cyst! when i first noticed it it started inching and noticed it was bumpy so i picked it and it got really red red! and painful, but the red went down i believe and pain went, but the raised skin is still their which appears still red… my doctor said when the skin gets scarred with folliclitis it will appear like that, is this true? he tells me its nothing to worry about and it can take 15-20 months to go, i had antibiotics for 2 weeks and it seems to look fady from before but the rased bump is still their, i don’t know what to do i have tried everythng now, shall i take my GP’s advise? it still don’t reassure me, any ideas.

ask your gp to refer you to a rapid breast unit, do get it checked out properly Carl, hopefully its what your doctor says it is, but you need to be reassured that its nothing more, you have every right to feel worried, don’t feel silly going back to your gp, and if your really anxious, then phone the helpline on here, they really are very good . best of luck, let us know how you get on

hello mate its Lance again,
sorry but i went on your other forum, its only natural that your going to be worried over this,i was diagnosed this july and had my op on the 6th august, im 50 yrs old but as i said there is a young lad of 25 on here, calls himself lucky25.
Its not just the men on this link we do get fantastic support from the women on here.
Now i dont want to scare you but if your GPs are so convinced that its a cyst then why dont they just cut it out instead of letting you live with the worry for 20 months or so, you could go downhill mentaly with the worry of it being BC and then they will be treating you for depression of which they themselves have brought on !!
get back soon
Lance

thanks for everyones advise, thanks Lance aswell, i hope ur ok! so their’s a lad whos 25? maybe it would be nice talking with him, guess what i’m just 22! i will tell my GP its effecting me mentally i go back on tuesday, i will go with a friend this time… i will mention i will worry for 20 months listening to what you said, can you please reffer me, if he still does not, how about if i see a breast physician? a breast physician is a breast specialist right? i found a clinic in weybridge, i live in london… this clinic treat men as if they where women coming in, its £165 for a checkup consulation which i don’t want to spend but its driving me mad… where abouts do you live Lance? so did you just have the nipple problem? any other bump? if so was it colourless, cause what i have appears red and raised the skin, so what you reckon about this breast physician? she is a breast doctor its private, if i have to what other choice do i have, then she can tell me if i need tests? if i where to have them, does an ultrasound give accurate findings? what will they do? and can’t they just biopsy that area and check it, but i heard private will cost alot so i really don’t know, what you think, sorry for bothering you again.

Hi again Carl,
I can see this is realy bothering & upsetting you,as for you going private then i personally think thats wrong, the NHS is there for a reason and they should do everything they can to help you in this matter.
Im from the Cambridgeshire area, yes all i had was an inverted nipple but i did not bother checking for a bump but after the mamogram they found a bump about 1cm in size, then i had a biopsey, the bump was painless no coulour and well under the skin, then in one week the results showed i had BC.
They can show on ultrasound, they can give you a local and do a biopsy, but before they do a biopsy they give you a mamogram normally.
Carl please dont feel you are bothering us, this not a trivial matter, it does your head in and to be totaly honest with you it still does mine, but this is a great supportive site and we are all here to help in any way we can to get you through this hurdle.
see you soon mate,
Lance.

I thank you so much for being their for me, i feel alone and scared! will you always be their for me? untill this is sorted out, i would appreciate this so much! as you said they found ur bump deep in the skin, mine is within the skin, not deep at all! it seems like its to do with the skin! and the hair is on the centre of the bump… they said folliculitis but i was on antibiotics for 2 weeks, he said it can course scaring? which keeps the bump their, and does not totally go for like 18-20 months, but i cannot accept it! i feel ill waking up and seeing it every morning, i felt like getting a knife yesterday and cutting it out, which was a dumb idea… i am going on tuesday! i will tell him its effecting my life i am only 22 and i’m scared Lance, have you heard of IBC? the rare type of breast cancer, i keep thinking its that 2… but apparently with that the whole breast gets inflammed and hot, not just one area, and their’s no bump! with me the skin is raised in one area, do you know much about IBC? i hear mostly women get it but its so rare in women this form and it does not appear as a bump! but i also heard their has been male cases, but all the stories i have read on the IBC website are from females! its like unheard of in a male, do you know much about this mate.
