I am so worried about my mum. For 3 months she has been feeling ill. It began with a muzzy head at first, ringing in ears and slight dizziness. The last month she has been getting headaches every so often too and says she just doesn’t feel well. She doesn’t wake up with the headaches and usually feels ok in the morning but feels worse as the day goes on. She has been diagnosed with high blood pressure and at first we put all these problems down to that. She is on blood pressure tablets but her blood pressure is still up and down like a yo yo.
She had bc diagnosed in July 2006 and it was a grade 3, sentinal node was clear. She had 6 FEC and rads. She was taking Tamoxifen, switched to Arimidex and then back to Tamoxifen because it was thought that the Arimidex could be causing the high blood pressure.
I love my mum so much and I am so scared that it’s something awful
It’s ruling my life at the moment - I go to sleep thinking about her and wake up worrying about her. She is going to her oncologist on Tuesday. She went to see him about 6 weeks ago with the same problems but he wasn’t concerned because she didn’t have headaches - but now she does.
Please could someone reply to tell me what you think. Thank you. x
Hello Louise
I’m sorry you haven’t had a reply from anyone yet. I’m not surprised that you worried and upset about your mum. Brain mets is a very frightening prospect. But the oncologist will send your mum for a brain scan if he is concerned that her symptoms might be brain mets. I went through a stage of having awful headaches last year and was given a brain scan just in case. Fortunately it came back negative and I think it was just stress. I do hope that your mum’s headaches are due to something else and not brain mets, and wish you both luck for tomorrow.
Best wishes.
Alison
