I am 33 yrs old with 2 kids 13 & 10 I had to have a hystorectomy at 26 & have been on HRT ever since. 2 weeks ago I found a lump in my R breast (sorta hurts)& went to the Drs !!! - I am still waiting for an appointment. I called to make sure they had my letter to be told there was a 3 week waiting list to even get an appointment??? For the last 5 days i have had really bad nipple pain (as if there were a neddel inside) I do understand that BC is not ment to be painfull but in some cases can be! I have tryed to find out more info about the nipple pain and not come up with much.
Can anyone help???

Yes you can have pain with breast cancer I certainly did but you can also have pain with many other breast problems. 3 weeks sounds a bit of long time for an appointment but it does vary. I had an appointment within 2 weeks which I thought was great but then had a very long wait for results from biopsies.
You could go back to your GP and see if s/he can speed things up or refer you to a different hospital. You could explain that you are now experiencing nipple pain. The other alternative is to go for a private referral if you can afford it and again you need to speak to your GP.
What you will be told is a week here or there won’t actually make any difference in the long term. whilst this is true the waiting is very hard. I would suggest ringing the helpline for support too.

Hope all is ok when you eventually get your appointment and that it is nothing sinister - the guidelines say it should be within 2 weeks!!! The waiting for appointments and tests drives you crazy.
Did your doc advise you to stop taking the HRT immediately just in case? Mine did but I carried on from 3 July (doc appointment) to 15 July diagnosis - I was 98% sure I had a cyst. Please do ring the helpline with your concerns, it really does help. Bless you - Lyn xxx

My husband keeps on at me that looking at all these sites is making me stress even more.
Whilst writting this i have relised that the postman has been and yes i have my appointmet booked for the 15th Sept. =) At least now i no i have an appointment. And just in time as last night i got some disscharge from my R nipple and is now even more painfull. Sure that it is pointing more to be a hormone thing /cyst!!
Gemjunkie - hope you dont mind me asking but were you right? was it a cyst? & no DR did not say anything other than yes you are very lumpy!(i only found 1)
(As for my name glad you like it! - I own a Butchers & opening a Deli in Jan!!!)

I cannot add much to what you have been told but if you feel something is not right with your breast, you are pursuing the right path: see a specialist, get all the tests done and if you are not convinced with what they tell you, press for more tests, or a biopsy even.
Whatever is wrong (and as they said, it might not be serious) it is better to know for sure.
I am new to this site too, but I have found a lot of support and understanding and the nurses at the helpline are wonderful.
Good luck with your appointment and hopefully talking about your worries will help you relax a little bit. I believe it is better to share. x

Don’t mind you asking - Not a cyst - one lump found - Diagnosed 15 July - it was not a cyst but Invasive Ductal Breast cancer - thought it was 2.6 cm but found to be 5cm on surgery. Grade 2 - Stage 2 - I had an onocplastic lumpectomy on 6 Aug - axillary node clearance 27 Aug(as three nodes were affected)24 nodes clear. Will start chemo in a couple of weeks and then radiotherapy on affected breast - the aromotose inhibitor/tamoxifen for 5 years.
I really hope your lump is hormonal/cyst - I did not have any nipple pain or discharge. let us know how you get on next week. If you have to wait for further results ask what is the possibility that it is breast cancer. I did and they said HIGH possibility - got results two days later - still kept hoping they had made a mistake but no such luck. I have got used to it all now but first few weeks are horrendous.
