Hi I had mast and ld flap this time last year for High Grade MultiFocal DCIS with invasion no rads, chemo etc. They told me the mast had removed all the nasty stuff and got clear margins of 1%. Was told no chance of recurrence in recon side and that 1 in 7 of us get it in the future in other breast was at ease with this but now am worried sick. Probably very normal when coming up to yearly check up I am thinking.
Due for mammo tomorrow and for weeks now have slept really badly, I can feel a small lump at top of breast (real one) my fiance can feel it too and lumpy bits under the arm also think I feel a thicker area but not as thick as I had felt in the breast that they had to remove for DCIS.
Do they mammo the recon breast as well, . Sorry for being a bit on the negative side right now. Any advice would be appreciated very much. Thanks.

hi. I had followup mammo a couple of weeks ago and they only did the good side as had no breast tissue since LD flap and expander implant following mastectomy.like you I was a bit worried about what would happen but had a really nice radiographer who did the mammo. i had noticed a bit of redness on skin of good breast but consultant said it would settle down and they did an ultrasound to make sure there werent any lumps or bumps.breast care clinic have always been great and reassured that all is ok.let uknow how you get on .i was in a foul mood the week before mine as i was premenstrual and period arrived 2 days before the mammo.take care

Thanks for taking the time to post that has helped knowing that the mast side wont need to be done and I am so glad that you got a good result. Dont know how long since your op but dont worry about the redness, I had a rash, spots and various areas which reddened and then were ok, its all part of the healing process, I did have some skin which died off as well but a year on it looks fine.
I popped a sleeping pilll last night and slept not too badly, I have just been so tearful and fearful, it has helped me a lot to hear from you. I will of course let you know how it goes today.
