Worried

Hi everybody,

Had WLE 9 weeks ago. As the weeks have passed and the swelling has reduced I now realise that my affected breast is quite a bit smaller.
The nipple is inverted and I have a have a soft lump above the scar. The area around the scar feels hard. I have been doing my exercises every day. I have to have radiotherapy which starts in a few days.
I don’t have large breasts and looking at what I’m left with I wonder how they will manage to do a mammogram.
Sorry to be a moan. I am grateful that my cancer was found and know that I am very fortunate that it was found early but at the moment I am really quite down at the appearance of my body.
Has anyone else had a similar experience.

Tina, I don’t have anything to add but your post seems to have been lost in all the posts today, so this is to bump it up, and to send you a hug.

Thanks Choccie Muffin, I’m new to all this. So far have found comments throughout the forum very helpful.

Hi Tina

Just to say don’t worry too much about not being able to have a mammogram, I haven’t been able to for years and always have an ultra sound instead which I believe is even better.

After surgery there’s always relief its over but anxiety about how it will heal, I don’t understand why you have an inverted nipple, is it a consequence of surgery? When your treatment is finished if you are still unhappy maybe something can be done about the appearance.

Good luck with your rads.

Take care.
