Worried

Hi I am new to this obviously found it my googling myself worried sick so thought it might help writing it down.  I’m 47 and last week I found a hard fixed uneven lump in my left breast. I know no one can give me a diagnosis but was wondering what’s the chances of it not been cancer and as anyone else had this kind of lump and it been ok ? . It doesn’t help that breast cancer runs in the family either

anyway have got an appointment on Monday at the breast breast clinic so not long to wait and worry.

Well it’s good you have an appointment at the breast clinic soon, the waiting and wondering is absolutely the worst thing!

I can’t comment much about you lump, mine was picked up by a routine mammogram and although I can feel where it is, I can’t really describe it! You will be given a thorough check over at the clinic, if you have an appointment letter, it might outline what they will do at the clinic. If  they decide to do a needle biopsy, you might have to wait for results, but I found I felt a lot better after going to the breast clinic, I cried every day after I had received my call back appointment letter, but once I’d been, even though I had to wait for results, I felt a lot better!

Do post back here once you have been to the clinic, I can let you know what they did when I went, if you want to know, obviously each clinic is slightly different, but I can give you an idea!

Good luck with your appointment. They will likely do more mammograms, ultrasounds and a possible core biopsy but be assured I think 80% is quoted as being nothing sinister. Lets hope that’s your case. If it is positive there is so much they can do, it really is not the death sentence it once was so try not to worry (ridiculous saying that!) a nightmare… we all know in here having been through it. sending love Lorna x

Hi Sparkle, its so hard not to worry but until its checked out you are going to, its so difficult to interperate a lump as many of us didnt have anything we could feel , they will give you a thorough check over and likely a biopsy unless they are certain its ok, fingers crossed you get the all clear Xx
