Hi all, just been referred via quick route for breast lump that feels long down the right side. I have recently come off the pill and was wondering if this could have caused the lump. Any advice would be appreciated. I am also worrying because my referral letter states cancer suspected.

Hi Evie,
It is usual that for anyone with a breast lump is referred under the 2 week rule (cancer suspected), so that’s quite right, but mostly there turns out to be a benign reason for the breast change. It just means you have been referred under the correct processes to ensure it is checked out as soon as possible.
It’s not good for the anxiety though!
Certainly, a hormonal reason could account for it, so thankfully it will soon be checked out for you.

Thank you for getting back to me on this; that has definitely put my mind at ease a bit more than the last couple of days! Doctor wouldn’t go into detail re possible contribution of coming off the pill, so I guess il find out Tuesday. Keep you posted. Hope you’re ok? Xx
