Worried

I started have left breast swelling and pain in January as well as left breast hanging lower and was referred to clinic. Mammogram and ultrasound clear. Left breast still swells on and off and is still hanging low, in addition I get random aches and pains in left shoulder, ribs (side) and arm/wrist. Could they have missed something? Should I go back? I can’t feel a lump but left breast tender if pressed on. I’m 38 and feeling very anxious.

hi komandoo

if your mammo and ultrasound are clear and your clinic has given you assurances, then I don’t think you need worry.  I had very worrying symptoms (nipple discharge ) and was referred to clinic …mammo was clear. Saw Consultant today and he assured me I  had a benign Pappiloma, which he will operate on and send fir Biopsy.  I put my full trust in him and am not worried.  As for pains, I had very similar aches and pains…stress manifests itself in many ways, and aches and pains are some of them.

HOWEVER, if you are really worried, talk to your GP

Hope you manage to see your GP and feel better soon xx

Thank you for your reply. I know I should trust the results, but silly me turned to Google and read how cancer can be missed. I just don’t understand why one breast suddenly decided to droop and the arm on that side gets all the aches and pains. I’m a worrier I know. It manafests from losing my dad to bowel cancer at 56, 16 years ago and the knowledge it was found too late. X

In addition when I had the mammogram the pain in the left breast compared to right was huge. It felt like the plates were squishing something hard, but I can’t feel it through self exam. The consultant just told me the results were fine with no more detail. I question how thorough he was. X

Hi Komamdoo,
As you’re still feeling anxious, it might be an idea to talk it through with your gp, who will have the results. It sounds like you didn’t get enough info to feel reassured.
Most likely all’s well, as you had a mammo & US which is standard & it’s usual to get the ‘all clear’ at this stage.
As we say a lot on here, google often does not help anxiety, as any search will lead to bc when mostly its not,
so better to talk it through with your gp or call the helpline above.

Thank you, I’m going to book an appointment with the gp tomorrow.

I believe all the reasons and causes for any kind of cancer are connected with unhealthy food and junk food we take all the time. My concerns are that I keep the healthy food course of mine as long as I can and get nutrients that are essential for my health. I raed an article on this and it gave me a good piece of advice so I would like to share it with you: phlabs.com/what-we-can-learn-from-senator-john-mccains-bout-with-brain-cancer

Yes go back definitely my mother was told three times she didn’t have breast cancer and she had invasive lobular breast cancer in the end just because there nurses and Doctors doesn’t mean there always riight your the women you no your body, don’t take no for an answer demand. Mri or a CT scan Good Luckxcx

Again, as said below… you know your body and whats right and whats not. You should always trust your body and whhat it’s saying - get a second, third fourth opinion if that’s what you need to be at ease. I had a lump… GP felt the lump… went for mammo and ultrasound and there was nothing there… but they found the real cancer on the other sidde of my breast - could not be felt externally. I believe my body was trying to tell me there was something wrong.
