Nurse called and said that my results (had mastectomy 2 weeks ago and nodes removed) were not ready for tomorrow’s appt. and that the lab wanted to do “further stains”…I now have to wait until next Thurs which will be over 3 weeks without knowing. I am so concerned …what could this mean? Anyone have this experience?
Hi Lee, unfortunately I can’t answer your specific question, but we all know the agony of waiting for results so just wanted to say that I am sorry you are going through this anxious time. Could you call the breast care nurse and see whether she is able to enlighten you about the wait. I know sometimes that the HER2 testing can take quite a long time, and it could be as simple as that. I wouldn’t read too much into it. They’re just busier than you can imagine. It’s been 3 weeks since my op and I know my lyph was clear but I don’t have results for hormone or her yet. At least they’re being thorough I think. I’d rather have to wait than get a rushed and inaccurate result. More stains = more tests = more certainty

Sorry to hear your having to wait another week for your results. I think sometimes it depends on the hospital
you’re receiving your treatment from. I didn’t get my HER test results until after I had finished my rads.
I agree with vertangie it’s good that their being thorough.
