Hello I’m Julie and I’m 58. I was recalled after a routine mammogram as I had a 5mm dot in my right breast. After ultrasound and vacuum biopsy I am now waiting for results which should be the end of next week. The waiting is agony, all the doctor said was it is very small and she couldn’t see a cyst but she doesn’t know for sure what it is but she didn’t sound too concerned and I wasn’t marked down as suspicious. I can’t think what else it can be apart from BC if it isn’t a cyst. Any ideas please xx
Hi there @juleslimey I just wanted to welcome you to the forum, a place where you will find support, where you can ask questions or just download.
You are in the universally-acknowledged worst part of the process - waiting for results. Patience is needed but difficult to come by and its absence is filled with dark imaginings. We’ve all been there. There are five or six benign things that the little speck seen on the mammo could be and the majority of test results come back negative for cancer. If, however, it does come back positive, it is so small that treatment should be straightforward and effective.
I, too, was called back from a routine mammogram, aged 66, as an area 9mm was seen. I was told at the biopsy that it was cancer but that the biopsy would determine what sort. So, in a way, my wait for results was slightly less scary as I had certainty. On extraction, the lump was 14mm but still considered very small, Stage 1. That was three years ago and I have been regularly tested annually since with no evidence of disease.
I do hope that your results put your mind at rest but, if not, please hold on to the fact that the vast majority of BC women go on to live lives without recurrence. Do let us know how you get on.
Hi Julie
Snap! I’m waiting for biopsy results on a 10mm dot in left breast which showed up in routine mammogram. The radiographer said it looked like it needed treatment so the past 3 weeks waiting have been hell
Each hospital is different, my results are face to face on Wednesday 27th.
Just hoping its the least worst type of BC. I have been googling all the time so got in a right state.
I do hope you’re clear xx
Keeping everything crossed for you. I have no idea when I will hear, just expecting a phone call some day after the 27th. Still in a lot of pain from the biopsy, stabbing pain too, wonder if that is from the clip they fitted? Please let me know how you go on xxx
Glad that you are still clear after 3 years, there is hope even after a positive diagnosis xx
How did you get on at your appointment? I have been thinking of you today, I still haven’t heard anything ![]()

The waiting is agonising
Thanks for asking.
Diagnosis is stage 1 IDC, lumpectomy booked for 9 September, they’re certainly getting a move on.
I hope you get positive news soon x
Please take care and keep us updated xx
Had a phone call this afternoon. It isn’t cancer I have a papilloma. They want to do another biopsy to remove the bit that is left but it doesn’t appear to have any cancerous cells. So relieved xxxx
Wonderful news, super pleased for you xx
There you go! Great news. And re-lax!
Thanks so much xx
