Year on after treatment

I had DCIS and invasive tumor 6.5 cm spread to lymph nodes stage 3b had lumpectomy chemo rad, then had double mastectomy . When I ask if I’m in remission all he will say is I’m guarded what exactly does this mean ?

Not heard that term… Most Drs use No Evidence of Disease now, as you might be in remission or you might be cured…

Hi blackpoolrock,

Dont let them fob you off with terms you dont understand. They may be big long medical terms or meaningless like i’m guarded. Kess is right, No Evidence of Disease (NED ) seems rhefavoured expressuon rather than remission.

Do you receive copies of your clinical letters ? This was offered to me as i first attended the breast clinic. I find it very helpful, as it summarises the place we have been, are at, and are planning for.

My consultant has always been patient with my questions which i try to make YES / NO answers for speed and simplicity.

Have you tried asking your breast care nurse ?

Good luck with getting answers you understand . They can only answer with todays information… bit like a car MOT ----- on that day at that time all was working as expected, and your car is declared fit fir the road.
