Younger woman in Leicester

Hi all,
I was diagnosed with breast cancer this November, after finding a lump the weekend I turned 35. The breast care team in Leicester have been amazing, and very supportive, although all the tests have been pretty arduous. They want to start me on chemo first, as there is some cancer in a lymph node too. But two days before I should have started I got a nasty cold, so have had to postpone twice. At least I will get a non-nausious Christmas - I will hopefully start chemo on the 27th.
It’s good to be able to share experiences here. I look forward to being part of this community, even if it isn’t for the happiest reasons. I feel a bit like some good things are coming out of this - not quite a silver lining, but maybe silver sequins adding up to a silver lining.
All the best,
Elee

Dear Elki

Welcome to the BCC Forum where I hope you will find lots of support. When you begin your treatment you may find it helpful to join a thread such as “Starting chemo in December” or “Starting chemo in January”.

Take care

Very best wishes

Hiya Elee,
I hope the first chemo went well (well as well as can be expected) and you arent suffering too much. I was diagnosed in Feb 2012 (i was 36) and had my chemo first, prior to surgery and then rads which i finished in DEcember. It is a long old road, but you do get there. I am still on Herceptin and hormone therapy…but i think the most hard core of the treatments are behind me…there is a wealth of expereince and some lovely ladies on here…so never be afraid to ask questions.
I dont know if you are on facebook, but we also have a private discussion group for younger women on there that you are more than welcome to join. If you look in the younger women section on here you will see how you can do so…
Take care,
Rae
