Hi Everyone. I’m Claire. I’m 45 and was diagnosed with lobular breast cancer in May 2020. I am another one of the volunteers attending the YWT event. I attended the event in Leeds in March 2022 as a participant. It is so worthwhile and i know you will all get so much from it. I am really looking forward to meeting you all & as Emily said, I am also happy to answer any questions you may have.
See you all on Friday, Claire. X
Hi everyone my name is Jas I’m 38 from Menston. I was diagnosed in June 23 with IDC. I had a mastectomy followed by 6 rounds of chemo which finished in Jan. I’ve now just started tamoxifen for the next 10 years.
Looking forward to meeting you all c
Hi, I’m Karen, 43. I was diagnosed with multifocal Her 2 positive breast Cancer in April 2022 Due to delays with my Surgery’s, chemo, radiotherapy, and phesgo, i finally finished my treatment on February 5th this year.
Im very much looking forward to meeting all of you on Friday/Saturday
Hi everyone, I’m Sarah, 37 years old, diagnosed with a stage 3, grade 3, TNBC in July 2023. I’ve had a rough road - “not great” fertility treatment outcomes, worst allergic reaction to chemo they had ever seen (Grade 4 Steven-Johnson Syndrome), had to switch hospitals from London to Leeds, more reactions to chemo, cancer deemed unresponsive before christmas after 10 rounds, so I had a bilateral goldilocks mastectomy with full node removal in January. They found more cancer in my upper lymph nodes, so I restarted chemo with EC 3 weeks ago. Ended up back in hospsital for 9 days, aaaand, im currently in the hospital having had round 2 yesterday (of a planned 6!!!) so I really hope I get through, get through the 20 rounds of double radiotherapy planned, and follow up surgery next year will be okay!!!
I also really hope I can make it on Friday and meet you all in person!! Im currently feeling really vulnerable on top of the physical side effects. I managed to save half my hair last year, but 1 round of EC chemo put paid to that and I had to shave it a couple of nights ago. I feel awful so this event and seeing you all would help x
Good Morning.
My name is Rena and I am soon to be 42 (eekkk!) I was diagnosed with TNBC in March 2023. I have had 8 months of weekly chemotherapy as well as 3 weekly immunotherapy. I had surgery in November of last year (lumpectomy - currently living with odd sized breasts). I had 3 weeks of radiotherapy in January of this year. I have continued with immunotherapy which is now every 6 weeks - I have 2 left which I hope will finish in June.
I am especially nervous about the event but very excited too (thank you to Stephanie for easing my nerves yesterday!). I am travelling from Wolverhampton today. I have pretty much lived in isolation for the past 12 months - so hoping nerves get replaced with braveness!
I am most looking forward to meeting women who understand this crazy journey.
Safe travels everyone. Looking forward to meeting you all.
Hi everyone, nice to meet you all. I’m Anouk (33), I am coming down from Durham. I was diagnosed with TNBC in April 2023 and have been through the whole shebang - chemo and immunotherapy for six months, lumpectomy + TAD (1 node involved from the start) and just finished four weeks of radiotherapy a few weeks ago. I am now still on immunotherapy until the summer. Looking forward to two nice days together!
It sounds like we’re at very similar stages in terms of our timelines. I am also nervous about tomorrow - on the one hand it’ll be great to connect with all of you, on the other hand there will be so many triggers. It’s scary!
Hi all, I am Hayley and I’m 30 from Leeds, I was diagnosed with ER positive grade 3 breast cancer last February age 29, and have had chemo, lumpectomy and radiotherapy. Getting back into the swing of life but really looking forward to meeting like minded people!
Hi everyone
Looking forward to meeting you all tomorrow. There is some construction at the main entrance of Leeds train station. If you take the exit to the left, Aire Street and City Square and go out City Square exit you will see the hotel just around the corner.
Steph
Good evening all, im current packing, getting ready for the event tomorrow at the Crown Plaza Hotel.
I’m Kelly and will be attending as a volunteer, I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone.
I was diagnosed with DCIS age 38, I had a single mastectomy and 5 years of Tamoxifen. I didnt get chace to attend this event as a service users so its a real privilege for me to come along and support everyone this weeknd.
I have attended other events and found them really supportive, being around other women who understand what your going through and how you feel is empowering.
Please say hi tomorrow , hope you all have a safe journey x Kelly
Hi all,
I’m really sorry but I’m not going to be able to join you all this weekend after all. I’ve started with a flu type cold and feel awful but, most importantly, don’t want to risk passing this around especially when some have said they’re still on treatment and vulnerable. I’m absolutely gutted as I was really looking forward to this but I know if I came I wouldn’t enjoy it in the way I was hoping and would just feel disgusting and guilty the whole time.
I hope you all have a wonderful couple of days. If there’s any future meet ups planned after this weekend I’d love to join you then. Sally x
