The research will be into self confidence and how people feel when they are spending time in public when affected by lymphoedema and people’s reaction to them.
It will be carried out by Dr. Jacqueline Todd, of Wharfedale Hospital, Otley, West Yorks.
The research is due to start in January 2010.
You can register your interest now.
I’m really not sure if I can post either the complete address or e-mail here, but full details are available on:
That’s very interesting. (And encouraging from your point of view - you seem to have an appt at one of the very few UK centres of excellence for treating lymphoedema - is that right?)
I think the research is looking for anyone who has any kind of lymphoedema following cancer treatment - and there are some pretty nasty kinds around…lymphoedema of the genitals, head, legs, etc as well as arms, trunk and breast.
Do let us know if you find out more - that would be great! Thanks.
I don’t know much about the actual clinic yet Bahons2 , but the hospital is brand new, and attached to St James in Leeds where I had my Rads treatment.
Hope it is a centre of excellence…that will make up for being referred to a clinic that didn’t exist …and waiting since May to be seen !!!
Will ask about the research on Tuesday…and report back .
The clinic at Otley was very impressive and I had a very positive experince there…but with everything that was happening, I forgot to ask about the research project … ooops !! Will try to remember at my next appointment.
