Hi there,
Trying to find out how soon the side effects of Zoladex take to kick in? I’m 2 weeks in, and feel no different. Didn’t ever get menopausal with tamoxifen either, just bad pmt.
I’ve had a regional recurrence of my breast cancer - into lymph nodes above collarbone, hence the zoladex. Waiting on bone scan/ct scan results next fri to see if any where else. Hoping not. Doc said I may have been tamox resistant so wondering if could be same for the zoladex as no symptoms so far and doc seemed convinced would kick in straight away.
Any info re Zoladex would be fabulous. Thanks ladies x
Hi. I’ve been on Zoladex for about 4 months now. I can’t say that I’ve really noticed many side effects. Hot flushes have increased slightly, but they seem to come and go and I have them mainly at night so I’m not a sweaty mess during the day! Apart from that - nothing. I’ve got secondaries so I do have some aches and pains but I don’t think that they are related to the Zoladex. Hope you continue to be symptom-free and good luck with further treatments.

I’d already been on Tamoxifen for 2 months when I started the Zoladex as well, and I’d been on that for one month before I noticed anything at all, and then all I got was a few mild night sweats. I take a very low dose of Amitriptyline (20mg just before going to bed) which is supposed to help with both the night sweats and the tingly nerve sensations around where the lymph nodes have been removed. I tried Clonidine but it gave me a very dry mouth so gave up with that. I’ve been on Zoladex for 3 months.

Hi,
Another one who’s resistant to tamoxifen! Had my 3rd Zoladex on Wed.
If I remember it right, 1st one wasn’t too bad. Period came too so was quite worried that it wasn’t working. However, I was told that it could be the last time I would have it. And now, nearly 2 months since last period, so it seems that it has worked. I take mine before I go to bed, so probably sleep through the night sweats, but do feel hot and sweaty in the day sometimes. It’s a lot more noticeable than tamoxifen anyway. But I also take Arimidex tablets (also hormonal treatment), which could be making the se worse. My onc is convinced that it’s related to age - the younger you are, the worse the se.
Hope clear scan results on fri. x
Thanks. Did get period this month too. Not on any other stuff yet… Depends what results say. I’m only 36, so does that mean side effects worse or better. Well, will just chill re this then and hope its doing what its meant to do! x
Hi, I’m 10 years younger than you!! So, if my onc is right, your se should be a lot better than mine. x
Scan results were clear but docs have decided I need chemo again… So off the zoladex til thats over. Haven’t had any increase in se either. Thanks again x
