Zolendronic acid - am I ok to drive to the appt?

Hi. I have my first infusion of zolendronic acid tomorrow - and not looking forward to it. I was wondering, though, how quickly the side effects could kick in and if I will be ok to drive there and back. Thanks anyone that can help! x

@flojo You should be fine to drive. For my first one, my husband came with me just in case but I could have driven. I have had 4 and only had side effects with first and second and they were mild. My oncologist recommended taking paracetamol about an hour before for the infusion for the first one. I was a bit achy/sniffly/shivery/ headache in the early evening (infusion was at 10am) and the next day but then fine. The second one was much milder and 3 and 4, nothing really.

All the best

Thank you!

@flojo I’ve had 2 and my experience has been exactly the same as bordercat’s. I drove myself and had symptoms as she described 36 hours later.

Good luck

Hi
I have had one so far back in April. I had my Herceptin injection at the same time. I had no side effects at all, and definitely would have been ok to drive. My husband did accompany me just in case.
Hope it goes well.

Thanks everyone. That’s reassuring! xx

Just to update…I did drive and felt fine. Feel a bit tired at the moment so will see how the weekend pans out. But the infusion itself was alright. Thanks again. x
