Re: Lump - Dense breast tissue?

Hi green tea,

cancer is is very hard to detect in dbt as both are coloured white on a mammogram. A biopsy would be the best way forward to rule out cancer. 🙂

Lump - Dense breast tissue?

Hi,

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had a lump / thickening which cannot be seen by ultrasound, and has been told it's dense breast tissue?

The consultant is happy to discharge me as he thinks it feels fine. But has offered me a mammogram or core biopsy if I want. I'm not sure what to do as I've had this lump for years and it has grown very slowly, so I've just been assuming it's dense breast tissue, but it's obviously disconcerting having a lump.

I'm in my late 30s and have very dense breasts which I know mammograms aren't ideal for.

Any advice would be so welcome, as I'm worried and don't like having to make decisions about things like this. I'd like to be able to trust it's dense breast tissue, but I'm not sure how they can be sure if the ultrasound doesn't show anything? Thank you xx
